Some people (who mostly have no idea what there talking about), will try and tell you the Bible is no different from any other book. NOTHING could be further from the truth. Not only is it the world's number one bestseller, but it's also been translated into more languages than any other book (over 2000 at this time). Many countries base their entire legal and social systems around its central teachings. The Bible gives top tips for every issue of life. It was written by over 40, hand picked (well God picked) men of all types.
Some bits of the Bible are easy to read - like the stories of Jesus. Other bits take a bit more effort: they might challenge us about a bad attitude, or
the negative way we treat people. But try and read both bits! Sure - get a load of some easy to read proverb, psalm or story - but try and make sure you listen
to things that the Apostle Paul says too!
We have tried now to find an explination for each 'part' of the bible:

1. THE BOOKS OF LAW (Genesis to Deuteronomy). This collection explains how we messed up and how God gave guidelines and began to restore us to Himself.
2. HISTORY BOOKS (Joshua to Esther). These are amazing records of God's people taking the Promised Land, judges and kings being captured and then God bringing them all home.
3. POETRY AND WISDOM BOOKS (Job to Song of Songs). These contain wise sayings and are all crammed full of important instructions about life and what happenes if they're ignored.
4. BOOKS OF THE PROPHETS (Isaiah to Malachi). The prophets were men who were called by God to speak to His people. Loads of gripping and exciting stuff here, even predicting (hundereds of years earlier) Jesus coming to earth.
